Sign up now.
Thank you very much!
These tuts helped me a lot to get started with Blender. Could you let me know when the others come out? (approximately) I’m really curious about the last ones.
Oh, and one more thing, these tuts are the same as in the online classes or totally other kind of stuff?
Thanks again…
The free classes will be open discussions. Meaning come in and ask what ever you want. Very informal. You can even wear sneakers
Anyway, I hope you’ll make some other free tuts and classes after rigging, lightning and animation too…
i love this . .
but unfortunately i have a bad time waiting for the streaming to finish every time i want to watch the tuts
do u have any solution so that i can download it first and watch it later??
Thanks for fast track tutorials. They are informative, practical and help student to learn and create a model.
Yesterday, I modeled a MAN I CAN, following tutorials. It is textured and ready for showcase.
Am I allowed to upload my model for viewing?.
I really like these tuts. I did have a small problem. I am finishing the Man-I-Can model. I am adding mirror mods to copy the arms and legs. On the foot (and two arms), even though I center the cursor the foot duplicates on the same side. It ends up on top of the left foot. What did I do? Help.
I love this website, but every time I change pages I automatically download a file: introduction.mov If this could be fixed and more videos are added this could be the number one site for learning blender! Keep up the good work!
Portzmonkey,
Thank you for the love:)
Sorry you can’t cache the movie file.
Changing Pages should not automatically force a Download of the Introduction.mov file.
In fact it should only load once for streaming, then be in your cache so it doesn’t have to be Downloaded ever again.
On January 18th 2009 we will be Publicly Announced at Blender Nation and will have many, many new users that have never heard of us.
I am hoping the video will help them to understand. It is only a temporary feature.
As far as adding more video tutorials, your feed back is very valuable to me but the main focus of this project is Live classes.
Recorded classes may be available in the future but that will depend greatly on the instructors.
I am very new too blender 4 weeks or so, new to computing for that matter but have been drawing cartoons etc…all my life and am grateful I found blender, as I have always wanted to do 3d but other 3d software is pretty expensive for me. Anyway I have also in the last 2 days been looking at your sight and am pleased to say what an eye opener it is, especially the video tutorials (pity I cant download them and study at leisure) they are great and nicely done, anyway just thought I,d ask would you say 53 is too old to start, I would love to join in you online tutorials as soon as , anyway thanks and keep up the good work I know you,ve got a good sight but I think it will become brilliant….Ponyexpress
As a follow-up, here is an example of what I had used yafray for previously, http://farm1.static.flickr.com/44/139995606_6c7b66dc5c_b.jpg
The only light sources are the two lamps, and I had a large number of ray bounces, the room is completely closed, aside from a single window, where very low GI was coming through (directly behind the camera).
Congratulations! Very good idea.
I would like to understand how things are going to work here and go into the next online class. I use blender about 2 years and want to improve my skills.
Good work here.
Hi great job dipingo, do you have any idea when you gonna upload the “Rigging and skinning” tutorial, I’m really interesting in it.
Anyaway great job and keep on it.
Greetings from Portugal !
I can’t say when I can get those up simply because of the free classes I am doing every night. They are on my list. I will do my very best.
One of the team members is from Portugal too, and will hopefully be doing some live “time zone friendly” classes very soon.
I love to read when ppl from all over the world have interest in this project, thank you so much for letting us know where you are from.
No need to thank me. I know the other member, he was the one who tell me about this classes (=
Continue with the free classes, i wont watch them much because they are about simple things that i already know, but when you talk about something that interest me you can count with me.
One more time thanks for doing this free and to help people learn and enjoy blender.
im a noob at blender and was wondering why when I added a sphere for the Arm in the man-i-can model tut. i got a oval-like shape. also thanks for the texture tut. 2 i found that very informative.
Roos, very good chance you have the Mirror modifier on when you added the new sphere. To check that either press the Z key to show wire frame, look for the shapes. Your 2nd option would be to check the modifier stack (the place that you set the Mirror modifier) and be sure it is not on (if it is click on the little X to shut it off)
Lastly, join one of my live classes.
maybe u cood combinate the part where u make a tut and a class? like recording a class wich is about riging, sure the tut will get a bit bumpy. But it cood be good if there was like a question from the aoudience wich u read and answers (maybe more ppl are thinking about the same while whatching the tut). Just a though so u would get more free time ^^ (I’m from sweden (gmt+1) kinda hard attend classes)
_Thorack_,
We are recording classes, and have posted links for a few classes already. If you go to the presenters page and click on our portraits, you will find a personal page with links to recorded classes.
I know I have my first yaf(a)ray class posted, and will be posting the 3 upcoming classes I am teaching this weekend as well. Also, note that I am teaching the same class twice this saturday, but I think we’ll need to re-arrange the schedule a little bit. The goal was to get at least one accessible to European-residing blender heads, I’ll talk with Dipingo about that when I get a chance.
Hallo, thank you very much for your very good tutorials. I tried to download also the texturing tutorial, but I´ve got only the rendering tutorial.
I´m a user of Turbocad and I also have since many years C4D, but want now to change to Blender. But it was always difficult for me to di this. Your tutorials give me the chance to do this.
I also hope, that your other tutorials will come out soon.

Hi. Excellent tutorials so far, but when are the rest coming? It’s so hard to find a complete course on the whole process of character creation in Blender (encompassing modeling, texturing, rigging and animation), please upload the rest of the series as soon as you can.
P.S. The fourth tutorial, texturing, is actually a duplicate of the third tutorial, rendering.
Andy52,
I am very glad you found those tutorials helpful. I am working on slimming down the last two subjects so that I can get them into less than 30 minute blocks. It is a major challenge. At this point unfortunately, I have had all my energy and time dedicated to the live, free classes and web development. I will do my best to get those updated as soon as I get the chance.
Lastly, the texturing tutorial is different than the render one. The icons are the same but the videos are different.
hey dipingo u know those casses today tomorow and on wedsday ur holding? well im singed up for them but i would like to know if there is gonna b a recording of the class available?
Looks like the download link under the Man-I-Can Texture item is pointing to the Man-I-Can Render .swf file location.
I need to look at these. I really would like to see a class on how to effectively create and animate a form and export it to a working DirectX model. We (Postmoderna team) have had nothing but trouble there.
I dont work specifically for DirectX but, now that my schedule has cleared I am getting back to my lesson plan for realtime content. if the issue is exporting then im afraid i wont be much help, if its ‘other’… I may be.
Any idea when the rest of the series will be uploaded, or have they yet to be created? This all-encompassing beginner course looks absolutely perfect for the blender novice who really wants to get a full understanding of the character creation process in Blender.
I just really wanna do the course. I’d gladly pay a fee to download the whole thing.
Could you at least upload the rigging/skinning tutorial? There’s plenty of tutorials out there for modelling and animation, but so little on the intermediate step of rigging/skinning. Please upload it as soon as you can.
Seriously, when are the rest of these tutorials going to be uploaded? They’ve been coming soon almost a year. When are the rest coming? This stuff is ESSENTIAL to any Blender user, a complete character creation tutorial set, but it stops halfway through; where is the rest?
Andy52, It would be worth your time and effort to attend the live classes. As for the rigging class and the animation class, I have no new recording to offer but those subjects have been covered in the live classes.
I will attempt to get one together for download as soon as I can. But Blenducation has begun to make a short commercial. Live classes have been focusing on this “Project oriented lesson plan”. For the next 3-4 months.
Feel free to join us, there is so much more we will be covering like Mindmapping, story boarding, and all the other essential parts of making a production.

This tutorials are just -briliant.Thank you for doing that,it’s very helpful.I’ve discovered blender just 2 weeks ago, without any previous knowledge of 3d modeling, but now I know for sure that I’m going to study blender and I’ll master it!Thanks to all the people like you.All the best.
Hi Dipingo thanks for these tuts their GREAT. but i signed up 4 the low poly character modeling… and didn’t receive an email. this has been happening alot plz help
call me kid
and can you please try 2 schedule a class where we decide the topic
NGKnext,
We are very open to class suggestions. Please let me know what subject you feel you would like covered.
That opportunity was exactly what Andy did. We let the community select the topic.
We can do that again.
Thank you Dipingo,
the reason i asked that question is because im making a game and dont know how to program my character. A class based on programming would be great.
G-day dipingo and other teachers of Blenducation i was wondering when the riging and skinning video will be out.
THX from the NGK Next Generation Kids studios (AKA my bedroom).
Is this site still up and running? ther hasnt been any action for a while
Is the link for the Texturing video the same as the Rendering?
no it just looks the same
When is the rigging and skinning tut coming out?
I have done many live free classes on rigging in the past. We are doing an over haul to the site and will be making new videos for this section soon. In the meantime just drop me an email and i will give you a paid recording for free.
Umm. dipingo? two things; First I would like to let you know that your MANICAN modeling part 2 is not working correctly, whenever I try to watch it it says either ” THERE IS A 404 ERROR” or ” YOU ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO VEIW THIS PAGE”.It is getting frustrating because I have an unfinished manican, and I am a beginner at modeling and I need more help. Could you fix it please? Second, I was wondering if you could make a tutorial on how to use blender’s game engine!
Thanks,
THECOOLDUDE
im a beginner at learning blender 2.49, so i want to start joining the classes so that i can start a new career. i have been learning the basics of blender but time i can be stuck and it would take weeks or days to figure out what to do
I am new to Blender but I have to say, that your videos have made a newbie like me feel comfortable and not over whelmed. I can’t wait until the rigging and skinning videos come out. Thanks for everything!
That was an issue when we were making the changes to the site. The part 2 should be working fine again. Thanks for the feed back.
Dipingo
